Who We Are

Association for Research & Enlightenment

The Association for Research & Enlightenment (ARE) is a non-profit international organization founded in 1931 by Edgar Cayce.  We have members in more than 70 countries. Edgar Cayce is considered the best documented psychic of the twentieth century.

Our international headquarters is located in Virginia Beach,VA and we have a recently acquired regional headquarters located in Houston, Texas .

 The ARE has regional representatives throughout the US and 37 countries, and individual members in more than 70 countries. The ARE community is a global network of individuals who offer conferences, educational activities, and fellowship around the world. Thousands of books have been written on the subject matter found in the readings, and dozens dedicated to the story of Edgar Cayce himself.

In addition to study groups and local conferences and activities, ARE offers membership benefits and services which include a bimonthly magazine titled Venture Inward, member newsletters, publications, conferences, international tours, a massage school curriculum, a retreat-type camp for children and adults, an impressive volunteer network  and much more.

ARE also maintains an affiliation with Atlantic University which offers continuing education classes and a Master’s Degree program in transpersonal studies. Located at the Virginia Beach headquarters is a Health Center and Day Spa where many of the health readings remedies are offered along with massage therapy.

1. Provide information on A.R.E. Search for God study groups and events coming to the Albuquerque area as well as workshops and events  throughout the state of New Mexico.

2. Encourage all individuals to follow their own unique path of personal and spiritual growth.

EDGAR CAYCE - A SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) has been called the "sleeping prophet," the "father of holistic medicine," and the most documented psychic of the 20th century. For more than 40 years of his adult life, Cayce demonstrated the uncanny ability to put himself into a self-induced sleep state by lying down, closing his eyes and folding his hands over his stomach. This state of relaxation and meditation enabled him to place his mind in contact with all time and space. From this state he could respond to a wide range of diverse questions. His responses to the questions came be called readings and contain insights so valuable that even to this day individuals have found help for everything from maintaining a well-balanced diet to a closer walk with God and spiritual growth.  While in the self induced state and provided with the name and location of an individual anywhere in the world he would speak in a normal voice and give answers to any questions about that person which he was asked. These answers, readings were written down by a stenographer.

The readings discuss an astonishing 10,000 different topics. This vast array of subject matter can be narrowed down into a smaller group of topics that, when compiled together, deal with the following five categories: (1) Health-Related Information; (2) Philosophy and Reincarnation; (3) Dreams and Dream Interpretation; (4) ESP and Psychic Phenomena; and (5) Spiritual Growth, Meditation, and Prayer.
